Hometown ChaChaCha: Ep 3

Intro:

The harbor is busy with everyone working hard and living their life. DuSik is at the door to drop off a package for HyeJin. They banter back and forth until DuSik leaves.

HyeJin is prepping to go to a fellow Dentist's wedding. This leads her to order a bunch of clothes which DuSik delivers every package. She tries on several outfits and models them for MiSeon. While DuSik is delivering packages, he asks her what she’s doing. HyeJin says she’s going to Seoul the following weekend.

As HyeJin is leaving the house all dressed up, DuSik is there waiting in a nice button-down short. He asks her for a favor: to drive him and 3 grandmas to Seoul. She doesn’t exactly agree, but off they go.

Everyone is eating in the car except one grandma. Apparently, she has fragile teeth. HyeJin invites her to come by the clinic. At the time, a car cuts them off, which causes HyeJin to stomp on her brakes, and the food falls on the floor. Angrily, HyeJin tracks the guy down to yell at him. The other driver makes sexist remarks which causes one of the grandmas to start swearing at him. The guy gets scared and drives off. HyeJin tells DuSik to look in the glove compartment to get wipes for the mess. DuSik sees a wedding invitation.

On the car ride, the grandmas ask HyeJin some questions. During the conversation, they learn her mother passed away, and her dad is retired. The rest of the trip is filled with rest stops as the grandmas keep needing to use the bathroom.

HyeJin drops everyone off and heads to the wedding. Everyone is talking about how punctual HyeJin used to be at the wedding. They make passive-aggressive comments about HyeJin opening her clinic in a rural area. While HyeJin is leaving the wedding, she runs into DuSik. One of her college acquaintances takes a picture of them.

25min in:

DuSik and HyeJin are back in Gongjin. The college acquaintance posts the picture in the college group chat. HyeJin tells them that he is not her boyfriend.

DuSik is at home making candles and thinking about HyeJin. At night he wakes up from what seems to be a bad dream and gets up to take medicine. He is going through a lot when nobody is looking.

The next day DuSik gives Yoon a coffee-making lesson. HyeJin comes in, and DuSik leaves at the same time, and HyeJin seems upset by this.

DuSik and Ms. Yeo take the trash to the police station and ask them why they haven't set up a security camera to catch the person who is littering. The police get scared that they will open the trash inside and say they will advocate at city hall later that day.

MiSeon is doing her makeup at the dental office to prep for one of the clients, who is a police officer. HyeJin teases her about it. After HyeJin is done with treatment, MiSeon finishes up. She asks him questions with his mouth still open, showing that she knows everything he says. It’s a weird flirt, but he likes it.

Bora comes by to check on her hedgehog. She gives HyeJin advice on how to bond with the hedgehog. HyeJin is reluctant but listens.

40min in:

DuSik walks into the dental clinic carrying Grandma GamRi, who does not want to be there. DuSik is extremely worried about her. HyeJin suggests that Grandma Gamri gets implants. She also offers dentures if she wants to avoid paying for implants. Grandma suggest just pulling the teeth out. HyeJin goes on to tell her that that’s not a good idea. They get into an argument, and GamRi storms out. DuSik tells HyeJin that she could've been nicer, and HyeJin tells him that that’s not her place. DuSik makes a remark that some people never change.

DuSik later visits Grandma Gamri to offer to pay for the treatment, and she throws water at him until he runs away.

At home, HyeJin is complaining about DuSik to MiSeon. DuSik calls her at that time to meet up. DuSik offers to pay for the treatment as GamRi has always been a selfless woman. HyeJin lowkey snaps and says she’s selfish because the main thing a parent should do is stay healthy. She then storms off. Flashback: we see HyeJin witnessing her mother’s sick moments in the bathroom. DuSik is still sitting there and realizes HyeJin is not okay.

DuSik goes to talk to GamRi, who is hand-washing her laundry. DuSik takes over and tells her to go sit. While she is sitting, she’s looking at a windchime and don't quote me on this, but I am 90% sure it’s the windchime BTS’ RM (Kim NamJoon) designed…I noticed because I am an Army…lol. DuSik tells GamRi that the best thing she can do is be healthy for her kids.

HyeJin and MiSeon are having lunch. HyeJin is eating squid and getting emotional thinking about GamRi and how tough it must be for her to eat squid. At this time, GamRi calls her very busy son. Her son says that DuSik called him and told him about her refusing treatment. She asks her son what he thinks she should do. Her son suggests that she get dentures as implants are expensive and money is tight. He also says implants can be bad for the elderly, which is the opposite of what HyeJin told her. GamRi looks disappointed and tells her son not to worry and to focus on his family.

1 hour in:

HyeJin goes to visit GamRi, who offers her dinner. HyeJin compliments her cooking. As she is eating, GamRi shows her a documentary/video that some segment/tv show did of her. They bond and laugh together. After the meal, they sit outside and talk. HyeJin tells her that she will do the implant for free, but GamRi will have to pay for materials and not tell anyone. HyeJin says she wants to see GamRi enjoy her favorite foods again.

DuSik is back fishing again and catches something that causes his pole to break.

GamRi goes into the dental clinic and pays for the procedure in cash. She is very excited to get the surgery done. Afterward, she calls DuSik to bring her porridge. GamRi tells him that HyeJin convinced her to get the implants and gave her a discount. She says that HyeJin appears cold as ice, but she is actually warm inside. She says that HyeJin must have been through heartbreak in life.

Later that night, HyeJin is washing her hair when the power goes out. DuSik comes by to fix it. Apparently, the power only went out at her house. He takes a candle out of his bag for her. He calls the power company for her. HyeJin is worried about staying in the dark. DuSik offers to stay with her. They both awkwardly eat ice cream in silence. DuSik notices the hedgehog and says it and HyeJin look alike. He then apologizes for judging her harshly before getting to know her. A second after he leaves, he texts her to look in her closet. He found the other missing shoe! She runs out to him, and he smiles and bikes away. As she puts the shoes on, her lights magically come back on.
