Her Private Life: Ep 3

Intro:

A teen boy sleeps in a classroom while the teacher gives a lecture. The boy is EunGI. We are getting a flashback to their high school days. When EunGi wakes up, he notices it’s raining, but he has a gifted umbrella from a crush. DukMi is about to walk in the rain when EunGi stops her and giver her the umbrella. His crush sees DukMi with the umbrella, and we get an off-scene fight. We see DukMi going to EunGi’s martial arts class wet, messy, and angry. She proceeds to beat him up in front of all his martial arts buddies.

It’s present-day, and DukMi is preparing for her day to meet SiAn. Unaware, she dresses in her all-black fangirl outfit, pointed out by SeonJu. She redresses and heads out of the house. SeonJu is at the cafe crying of jealousy. A cafe worker, JuHyeok, is there and breaks a glass. SeonJu tells him that she’s not going to fire him but train him well and get her money’s worth, lol.

Ryan is waiting outside SiAn’s place for DukMi. DukMi notes that Ryan is wearing a jacket that SiAn owns…classic fan. DukMi is holding a bouquet of tulips which Ryan mistakenly thinks is for him cause she tried to poison him. She corrects him and says they are SiAn’s favorite flower. Ryan is holding a bottle of red wine. DukMi says that SiAn prefers white. Ryan remarks that she knows a lot about him. She brushes it off as part of her job to know everything about a client before the meeting. DukMi is having a silent panic attack in the elevator which Ryan notices. We get a very dramatic scene of DukMi heading to his apartment door. She looks super uncomfortable. Before ringing the doorbell, Ryan looks at her and asks if she hates SiAn that much. Remember in episode 2, DukMi told Ryan that she hates idols, so he views her excited anxiety as distaste. Ryan tells DukMi to mask her dislike better. Ryan rings the doorbell and his manager answers.

When they enter the apartment, she notices his dog, Kong. She looks down the hall and sees SiAn exiting the bathroom and heading to his room. They look over the collected art pieces when he is all dressed. DukMi is observing him in slow motion and trying not to have a nervous breakdown. She is on the verge of tears while SiAn and Ryan discuss art. He points out one of his favorite pictures taken by a fansite. The fansite is “The Road to SiAn’. SiAn says nobody knows him better than that person, but sadly, he doesn’t know who that person is. DukMi is really about to lose it. She asks to go to the bathroom and starts crying in there. For some reason, she goes to sit in his shower and accidentally turns on the water. Ryan is looking for the painting done by Lee Sol when DukMi comes out of the bathroom drenched. Ryan lends her his jacket in disbelief.

While talking about SiAn’s part in the upcoming exhibition, DukMi mentions that Ryan also likes Lee Sol’s artwork. This gets a bit awkward. SiAn asks Ryan if he is familiar with her work, and Ryan says no, he just bought it for a client…but we know he owns 2 of the art pieces. Ryan says that while buying her artwork, he learned by chance that SiAn owns some of her pieces too. SiAn questions if it was by chance. DukMi looks confused by their interaction.

In the hallway, DukMi apologizes to Ryan about mentioning Lee Sol, but Ryan doesn’t seem too concerned. DukMi tells Ryan that she only called herself a cab as she figured Ryan had brought his car. Ryan tells her that he took the elevator. Ryan lives on the floor above SiAn. DukMi leaves the apartment complex wearing Ryan’s jacket and tells him she’ll return it the next day.

20 minutes in:

Ryan is in his home office looking up SiAn. He pulls out DukMi’s blue fangirl notebook and starts reading through it. The notebook is filled with pictures of SiAn, his likes and dislikes, and other fangirl things.

DukMi is at the cafe reminiscing her interaction with SiAn with SeonJu, SeonJu’s husband, their son, EunGi, and JuHyeok. There's a lot of high pitch screaming, and the boys are looking at them confused.

The next day DukMi is half asleep on the bus heading to work. SeonJu calls her panicked and worried, asking if she was terrorized. SeonJu says she must not have seen it yet and sends her a link. It’s an article saying SiAn is dating a woman. DukMi goes to the cafe and starts to go through all the stages of grief. From “he has no time to date” to “how could he do this” to “he’s at the age where he should find someone.” The article has a picture of him standing in his art room. SeonJu shows her that when you zoom in, a woman is standing in the room with him. DukMi starts yelling again but then realizes it’s her in the room.

So here’s the breakdown of the rumor—the jacket. SiAn and Ryan own the same jacket. The jacket is a limited edition, so SiAn’s fans think he is one of the very few people who own the jacket. However, Ryan owns the jacket and lent it to DukMi when she turned on the showerhead at SiAn’s apartment. So from the fanbase point of view, a woman in SiAn’s apartment is wearing his clothes.

SiAn and his manager discuss how they are going to handle the scandal. SiAn blames the problem on the exhibit, which he says he never wanted to do. His manager tells him to move forward with the exhibit.

At the museum, the workers are reading all the hate comments that DukMi is getting. There are a lot of death threats. Ryan gets worried for DukMi. YooSeob tells DukMi she should be worried that her personal information will get leaked because fans are scary like that. KyungA ask DukMi if she had told her boyfriend about the situation. DukMi is confused and asks if she has a boyfriend. Ryan is walking down the hall at this time and hears this conversation. YooSeob says that when they were out drinking, DukMi kept talking about her boyfriend’s smile…of course she was talking about SiAn, but Ryan thinks she is talking about SeonJu.  Remember, he thinks DukMi and SeonJu are a gay couple? DukMi corrects them and says it’s not a boyfriend. KyungA tells her that it doesn’t matter, but she needs to post a picture online with him before the fans get ahold of her. KyungA reaches for her phone to search for a picture when Ryan crashes in and tells them to get back to work.

30minutes in:

Ryan walks up to his apartment complex, surrounded by sad fans and paparazzi. They all get breaking news that SiAn’s manager but out a statement explaining the situation, and they all leave. Ryan reads the article, and it explains the situation partially. The article says that her jacket is SiAn’s. Also, the article says that she only wore the jacket while inside the apartment. Ryan goes to meet with SiAn and his manager. The manager says the people wouldn't believe the truth anyway. SiAn says it's better to tell a believable lie than an unbelievable truth.

Ryan calls DukMi to tell her the update. DukMi is at home and starts working on her fansite page. DukMi is quietly observing the fansite chatbox, which is full of everyone hating DukMi and the manager. DukMi posts a new photo of SiAn on the page to distract them.

Outside in the car, there’s another fangirl going through the pictures she took of DukMi leaving SiAn’s apartment WITH the jacket on. Apparently, she bought the jacket for SiAn as a gift and was upset to see DukMi wearing it. She gets a crazy smile on her face.

The next day, the pictures she took of DukMi leaving the apartment are all over the internet. All the fans get upset again. The fansite belongs to a girl named Sindy. Remember Sindy? She was on the plane with SiAn taking pictures, and Ryan noticed. Well, Sindy also leaked DukMi’s personal information along with the photos. SeonJu sends the link to DukMi. EunGi immediately starts making fun of her.

The museum is blowing up with calls of upset fans…ridiculous. The coworkers tell her to be careful when she goes out. DukMi is heading out of the office when she hears Ryan yelling on the phone with SiAn’s manager. SiAn’s management team says they will just let it blow over rather than confronting it. DukMi says that nobody will believe anything they say anyway since they already lied. Ryan apologizes to DukMi for not correcting the first article. DukMi says it's the fault of a sasaeng, Sindy, for releasing the pictures.

While leaving the museum, DukMi notices many people are waiting around with masks on. They all start to egg her and shoot her with airsoft guns. EunGi appears and covers her until the police show up. Ryan shows up at the end of the chaos.

DukMi is in the bathroom removing eggshells from her hair. She is upset that the fans spent money on eggs rather than buying White Ocean’s album..lol. Ryan and EunGi are waiting for her in the hallway. EunGi introduces himself…Ryan doesn't remember him from the hospital. Ryan says he doesn't remember him, and DukMi didn't mention her friend being there. EunGi says that people usually think he is DukMi’s boyfriend. Ryan completely ignores this remark, and EunGi seems a bit irritated. EunGi tells Ryan that he is a director too…director of a judo studio. EunGi then tells Ryan that he is DukMi’s oppa and reaches out to shake his hand, but Ryan just looks. DukMi then appears and tells Ryan she is going to the bank for work, and Ryan offers to go with her. EunGi interrupts and says that DukMi will feel more comfortable with him. DukMi decides to go with EunGi.

At the hospital, Director Eom is informed that DukMi is having a scandal with a kpop idol.

DukMi heads down to the precinct, all wrapped in bandages from the fans who attacked her. The fans start crying and say she should not have left wearing his jacket. The fans tell the detective that someone who receives a gift should not give the gift away…remember the beginning of the episode when DukMi got beat up cause EunGi gave her an umbrella that was a gift? Yes, full circle. DukMi tells the detective she will drop all of the charges. DukMi also clarifies that it was not his jacket, and the fans thank her and apologize.

At the museum, YooSeob and KyungA ask Ryan if he wants to go to lunch with them. He denies and tells them to go ahead. YooSeob asks Ryan if DukMi went to the precinct alone, and Ryan tells him that her brother (oppa) went with her. KyungA is confused and remarks that she thought DukMi was an only child.

At DukMi’s parents’ home, EunGi walks in and is greeted by his mom! Like not DukMi’s mom but his own mom. He calls her Editor Nam. Their relationship is light and playful, but EunGi does seem to hold some resentment. DukMi’s mom gives EunGi another bowl of rice, and Editor Nam asks when is she going to stop raising him. EunGi tells Editor Nam that she wouldn’t understand because parents feel full when they see their child eat (common Korean expression for endearment). EunGi then goes on a rant on how DukMi’s mom raised him for 20 years, and yall Editor Nam did was birth him. Editor Nam replies by saying that she made money for him. DukMi’s mom agrees that she paid for the clothes and food. They settled on that they raised him together. DukMi’s mom raised him with love, and Editor Nam raised him with money. The moms met at the maternity ward. EunGi’s mom was a single mother, so DukMi’s mom helped her. They are super sweet to each other!

50minutes in:

Director Eom goes to visit Ryan at the museum. Director Eom tells Ryan to fire DukMi because of her scandal. Ryan says he won't fire her over something like that. Director Eom says she can't stand DukMi for ruining her reputation like that, and he should fire her. Ryan tells her she has no right to tell him to fire his staff. He then goes on to tell her that she and her husband ruined their own reputation. Director Eom tells him that she will handle it herself. On the way out, Ryan asked her where a painting is. It’s an Ivanoff art piece that she won at a Chinese auction, yet there is no documentation about it. Director Eom tells him she doesn’t know what he is talking about. Ryan suggests that maybe if a prosecutor asks, then she will remember. She leaves frustrated. Outside, DukMi runs into Director Eom. Director Eom slaps DukMi and asks how she could betray her. Director Eom thinks DukMi told Ryan about the Ivanoff art piece. Ryan sees all of this from the window in the museum.

At the end of the night, Ryan sees that DukMi is still in the museum. She is sitting in one of the rooms looking at the paintings. Ryan sits with her and they share a moment. DukMi tells him that some days she questions if she should still be a curator, even on days like this when nothing is going her way. She says that paintings aren’t worth it because she is more significant than any painting. This resonates with Ryan, who used to have the opposite belief. He always thought the paintings were more important than him. Ryan tells DukMi that he was adopted overseas after his parents abandoned him. He couldn’t speak the language and was teased often. The only time he got positive attention was when he painted. Ryan no longer paints, so he never thought he was important. He thanks DukMi for teaching him that he is more important than any painting. Ryan then apologizes to DukMi and tells her why Director Eom slapped her. DukMi tells him to put it behind him and move on. When Ryan leaves the museum, he sees a suspicious car, and the person is trying not to be seen…probably Sindy. While driving home, Ryan thinks more about the car and how he’s been seeing it all day. He then thinks about the death threats DukMi was receiving.

We see DukMi walking home and a car starts driving towards her when Ryan’s car cuts them off. Ryan goes to the driver and starts yelling at says that DukMi is his girlfriend…AHHH!

Prediction: I guess Ryan is going to pretend to be DukMi’s boyfriend, so the crazy fans leave her alone. EunGi is about to be so mad!
